Yves Rocher's Vanille Noire

By 2:33 AM , , ,

Vanille Noire, created by Jacques Cavallier, is a fragrance that was launched in 2010 by the Yves Rocher brand. It is a part of the collection Secrets d'Essences.

I've noticed that many people are intrigued by (or rather unsatisfied with) the unusual fresh-spicy cedar-vanilla combo. Although I really like Vanille Noire, I must admit that it's a little difficult to understand at first glimpse. Maybe that's why it was attributed as "noire", but I'm gonna refer to this aspect in a little bit, so keep reading.

To me, the initial blast is very similar to the smell of wet palo santo, with that slightly spicy whiff specific to the Uganda vanilla. Then, you get to experience a well defined blend of the three vanilla types contained by the perfume and in the end you are left with the sweet Tahisensis vanilla in harmony with a woodiness characteristic to the Madagascar vanilla (what a splendor!)

Although it is not your traditional cupcake vanilla and it's a fragrance remarkable through the originality of its notes, I find the label "noir" a little inappropriate. Yes, it has a certain smokiness, but in fact it is a delicate fluid scent, easy to wear and suitable to a wide range of consumers.

The longevity for this one is moderate, it doesn't project very much and in drydown it settles as a comforting skin scent, ideal for autumn or early spring.

I find it lovely and it's also great for layering.
